Welcome back to the GKC blog, we have more news and updates for you his week, including a couple of not to be missed competitions.
College Development Network Awards
The College has been shortlisted in the College Development Network Awards, Essential Skills category, for its sterling partnership work with The Marie Trust in Glasgow which provides support to vulnerable people in Glasgow’s communities.
GKC’s committed staff work closely with the Trust’s excellent workers and service users to provide support and learning opportunities. The Award Winners will be announced at a gala event on 26th November.
Fabulous work and well done to all concerned, especially the learners who are turning their lives around. Fingers crossed!!
It’s Graduation Time!
Wednesday the 28th of October will see us hold our 2015 Graduation Ceremony at 7pm in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the success of both staff and students, is approaching fast.
Student registration is open on our website and formal email invitations and information about gown hire etc. will be sent out to all students who have completed their HN studies.

Wear It Orange – An Update
On Friday the 11th of September staff and students were invited to take part in Challenge MS 2015 Wear it Orange at Glasgow Kelvin College.
They all did us proud, raising £535.33 and turned the college orange for the day.

Embracing Diversity Competition -2016
Get creative and show us how you embrace diversity at GKC! The details and entry forms are now available online for this exciting competition.
The theme is “Embracing Diversity” and the aim is to find the most effective expression and communication of this theme according to the judging criteria. If you take part it will help to increase your knowledge of diversity and the barriers people may face. Oh, and yes there are prizes and it should be fun too! Winners of the top prizes will be entered into the regional final to take place in June 2016.

Market Maker Competition 2015
The Market Maker competition is one of the UK’s largest student enterprise competitions. It is open to all students from the further education sector. Last year, 1300 students participated working together in 320 teams.
Do you have a fantastic idea that you would like to take further? Can you get a team together to work, collaborate, combine forces and to make your idea a reality? If yes then go to our Market Maker page to get more information and register your team and idea.
So if you fancy Jewellery design and creation or making a Corset, then we may have a course to suit you.
